Harvesting

Harvesting miscanthus cane in the late winter
Harvesting

In order to prepare the cane for processing, we have a system to harvest cane in as clean a way as possible. By cutting the stalk 3" above ground level and leaving the leaves that have fallin' to the ground, we keep the soil contaminates to a minimum. Using traditional equipment currently used in forage harvesting, we chop the cane into the right size pieces and place them in a forage wagon for transfer to storage..

Storage

We suggest storing the cane crop in large piles to be retrieved on an on-going bases. The pile will naturally shed water and experience very little deterioration before use in our conversion process units. Transferring the cane to our processing unit located in close proximity to the storage areas, allows us to transportation costs to a minimum.
